
Melanie Taylor
Chief Executive Officer
Melanie Taylor began her career with Burke in 1986. Over the years, she has served in a number of roles across the organization, giving her a unique understanding of Burke, its employees, and the people and communities we serve. She was named Chief Executive Officer in 2019.
As CEO, Melanie oversees Burke's operations, strategic planning, and financial management. With nearly four decades of experience at Burke, she brings a deep understanding of the organization, the people we serve, and the East Texas communities that depend on our services.
Melanie holds a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation, a Master of Science in Business Management, and a Master of Public Administration in Non-Profit Leadership and Management. Throughout her career, she has remained active in professional organizations supporting behavioral health, human resources, and community-based services.

James Smith
Chief Clinical Officer
James P. Smith, Ed.D., joined Burke in 2002 as a Service Director in Children's Mental Health Services. He later served as Director of Mental Health Operations before being named Chief Clinical Officer.
As Chief Clinical Officer, James oversees Burke's Adult Mental Health Services, Children's Mental Health Services, Intellectual and Developmental Disability Programs, and Early Childhood Intervention Services. His experience across multiple areas of Burke gives him a broad understanding of the organization, the services we provide, and the needs of the individuals and families we serve.
James holds a Master of Arts in Counseling and a Doctor of Education in Counseling Psychology. He is an active member of the Texas Counseling Association and has served in several leadership positions with the organization.

LeeAnne Camp
Chief Financial Officer
LeeAnne Camp joined Burke's Financial Services team in 2020. She served as an Accountant, Accounting Manager, and Director of Accounting before being named Chief Financial Officer in 2024.
As Chief Financial Officer, LeeAnne oversees Burke's financial operations, including accounting, audit requirements, contracting, fleet management, grant reporting, and financial policies and procedures. Her experience in several roles within Financial Services gives her a strong understanding of Burke's financial operations and the resources needed to support the organizations services.
LeeAnne holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Master of Professional Accountancy from Stephen F. Austin State University.
