About Burke

Since 1974, Burke has been dedicated to serving individuals and families across East Texas. What began as a community-based organization providing mental health and developmental disability services has grown into one of the region’s leading providers of compassionate, comprehensive care.

Today, Burke serves more than 10,000 people each year through Mental Health, Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD), and Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) services.

Our mission is to provide the highest-quality, most compassionate, and comprehensive mental health and developmental disability services to individuals throughout East Texas.

Burke is named in honor of Ward and Annabelle Burke, whose tireless advocacy for people with mental illness and intellectual and developmental disabilities helped advance community-based care in Texas.

As one of Texas’ 39 community centers, Burke proudly serves an 11-county region that includes Angelina, Houston, Nacogdoches, Newton, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity, and Tyler counties.

At Burke, our employees make our mission possible. Whether providing direct care, supporting programs, or working behind the scenes, every team member plays an important role in serving our communities. If you’re looking for meaningful work where you can make a difference, we invite you to explore career opportunities with Burke and become part of a team committed to improving lives across East Texas.
