Compensation: $43,920 annual base salary, plus a $6,000 annual hard-to-fill and travel stipend. Travel reimbursement is provided.

About the Role

The Community Assessment Clinician (CAC) provides overnight crisis intervention services by conducting mental health emergency assessments for individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis. This position plays a critical role in determining the most appropriate level of care and coordinating services to ensure individuals receive timely and appropriate treatment.

Assessments are conducted in emergency rooms, local jails, and other community settings, either in person, through tele-video, or by phone. The Community Assessment Clinician also assists with crisis follow-up calls and supports the Crisis Phone Specialist with incoming crisis line calls. Because this role serves as a critical overnight crisis response position with routine travel throughout Burke's service area, it includes an annual hard-to-fill and travel stipend in addition to the base salary. This position reports to the Crisis Program Director at MHEC. (Mental Health Emergency Center)

What You'll Do

• Conduct mental health emergency assessments for individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis.
• Determine the appropriate level of care and placement based on assessment findings.
• Complete assessments in emergency rooms, local jails, and other community settings.
• Conduct assessments in person, via tele-video, or by telephone as appropriate.
• Assist with crisis follow-up calls to individuals after a crisis event.
• Support the Crisis Phone Specialist with incoming crisis line calls.
• Maintain timely, accurate, and complete clinical documentation.
• Collaborate with hospitals, law enforcement, community partners, and the treatment team to coordinate services.

What You Need

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in counseling, rehabilitation, psychology, social work, or another Human Services discipline that meets Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) requirements from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Driving record insurable by Burke's insurance administrator.
• Reliable personal vehicle with the ability to travel routinely throughout the service area.
• Ability to complete Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression (SAMA), CPR, First Aid, and Defensive Driving training modules.

Preferred

• Six (6) months of continuous full-time direct care experience in an adult mental health setting, including mental health crisis evaluation and intervention.

Work Schedule

• Monday – Friday
• 7:00 pm – 2:00 am
• Routine travel throughout Burke's service area is required.
• Travel reimbursement is provided.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, and drive for extended periods.
• Ability to see, hear, communicate effectively, and perform tasks requiring hand and finger dexterity.
