General Description
The Director of Pharmacy (DOP) serves as the Pharmacist-in-Charge and is responsible for full oversight of the ETBHN pharmacy operations. This includes compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations (State Board of Pharmacy, DEA, FDA), supervision of pharmacy staff, and ensuring operational efficiency and quality service delivery to multiple organizations.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing day-to-day pharmacy operations including medication dispensing, bagging, and shipping. Oversight of the Patient Assistance Program (PAP) and ensuring optimal access to affordable medications. Supervision of all pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, shipping personnel, and PAP staff. Ensuring compliance with program standards, medication safety, and regulatory requirements. Direct interaction with physicians and other healthcare providers to review prescriptions, detect therapeutic incompatibilities, and promote safe medication practices. Coordination and onboarding of new Centers within the network and integration into existing pharmacy systems. Collaboration with the ETBHN Executive Director and the ETBHN Pharmacy Coordinator for financial and operational alignment. Acting as primary liaison for internal and external stakeholders on all pharmacy-related matters. This position requires strong communication and customer service skills, the ability to work independently, and leadership capacity to manage a diverse team in a fast-paced environment. This position reports directly to the ETBHN Executive Director and supervises a multidisciplinary pharmacy team including pharmacists, technicians, shipping staff and PAP personnel.
Education
Required: Graduation from an accredited pharmacy school.
Experience
Required: Two (2) years of supervisory or pharmacy management experience.
Preferred: Experience managing pharmacy operations serving multiple organizations or systems. Experience with PAP coordination or similar programs.
Licenses/Certifications
Required: Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Texas in good standing.
Required: Valid Texas driver's license.
Physical Requirements
Required: Use visual and motor skills to efficiently and effectively monitor prescription fill process and utilize computer equipment; stand for long periods of time; ability to lift up to 25 lbs. to carry or lift supplies. Must be able to attend workshops and travel to Centers as needed. Must be able to successfully complete Defensive Driving.
Special Requests or Comments
Required: Must have a driving record insurable by Burke's insurance administrator.
Hours
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
However, this position may require occasional after-hours work to complete job responsibilities.
Salary
Negotiable; depending on education, skills, and experience
