Compensation: $42,120 - $43,555 annually, depending on qualifications and experience

About the Role

Burke is seeking a compassionate and motivated Early Intervention Specialist (EIS) to join our Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) team in Lufkin, TX. This position provides case management and developmental intervention services for infants and toddlers (birth to age three) with developmental delays or disabilities and their families.

Services are provided in each child's natural environment, including the home and other community settings. The Early Intervention Specialist partners with families to support children's developmental progress through parent coaching, developmental activities, evaluations, and individualized treatment planning.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with young children and families, values teamwork, and has strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.

What You'll Do

  • Provide case management and developmental intervention services for children from birth to age three
  • Conduct home visits and deliver services in the child's natural environment
  • Coach and educate parents and caregivers on strategies to support child development
  • Work directly with children to promote developmental progress
  • Administer developmental evaluations and screenings
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on evaluation results
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation to meet billing requirements and deadlines
  • Collaborate with families, community providers, and interdisciplinary team members
  • Travel throughout the service area to provide in-home services

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree that includes a minimum of 18 semester hours of coursework relevant to Early Childhood Intervention, including at least three semester hours in early childhood development or early childhood special education
  • Coursework should include areas such as:
    • Child growth and development
    • Child psychology or child and adolescent psychology
    • Children with special needs
    • Typical language development
  • In accordance with ECI requirements, 40 clock hours of continuing education in early childhood development or early childhood special education completed within five years prior to employment may substitute for the required three semester hours in early childhood development or early childhood special education
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with families and community professionals
  • Valid Texas driver's license required

Work Schedule

  • Monday - Friday
  • 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Some after-hours work may be required to meet the needs of families

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Texas driver's license required
  • Must successfully complete:
    • CPR
    • First Aid
    • Defensive Driving
  • Driving record must be insurable by Burke's insurance administrator

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to walk, drive, and travel throughout the service area
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring hand and finger dexterity
