General Description
The Crisis Intervention Specialist will be responsible for collaborating with the Service Coordinator, Service Planning Team and Private Providers to identify people at risk of requiring crisis services. The Crisis Intervention Specialist will implement intervention strategies to avoid potential crisis events and to promote the individual's coping skills. The Crisis Intervention Specialist will provide training and support that provides the individual with the greatest chance of success living in the community. The Crisis Intervention Specialist will also assist in providing training to family, staff, and other collaterals on behavior techniques designed to promote appropriate behaviors. The Intervention Specialist will be available to provide consultation to Mobile Crises Outreach Team (MCOT) as needed and will assist in identifying individuals in need of crisis respite and the development of a crisis respite plan. Responsible for crisis intervention in the 11 counties Burke provides services.
Education
Required: Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, medicine, registered nurse, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, physician assistant, gerontology, special education, educational psychology, early childhood education, early childhood intervention, or other Human Services discipline that meets QMHP requirements, from an accredited college or university.
Preferred: Master's Degree in Psychology or related field.
Experience
Required: Required experience in behavioral intervention which could come from practical internship or university experience.
Preferred: Experience working with individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities
Licenses/Certifications
Required: Valid Texas driver's license.
Preferred: Licensed Psychological Associate or Licensed Professional Counselor.
Special Requests or Comments
Required: Must be physically able to complete Satori Alternative to Managing Aggressive Behavior (SAMA), CPR, and First Aid training modules. Must have a driving record insurable by Burke's insurance administrator.
Physical Requirements
Required: Sight, hearing, talking, lifting up to 50 pounds, prolonged standing, walking, driving a vehicle, and hand/finger dexterity.
Hours
Monday - Friday; Generally, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some after-hours may be required.
Salary
$45,000 annually / $61,285 annually if licensed
