General Description

The Mental Health Clinician is responsible for completing clinical assessments and determining whether individuals meet eligibility criteria for admission into Burke services and/or require referral to appropriate community providers. This position also conducts aftercare appointments for individuals discharged from inpatient psychiatric facilities to support successful linkage to Burke outpatient services.

Additional duties include conducting emergency assessments, completing select Case Management and Service Coordination functions, and performing other related responsibilities as assigned. The Mental Health Clinician must follow Burke's policies, guidelines, and standards and complete all documentation in accordance with Burke, Medicaid, and accreditation requirements.

Strong documentation skills, flexibility, self-discipline, organization, and computer proficiency are essential for success in this role. This position is supervised by the Centralized Intake Clinical Coordinator. Some travel within Burke's 12-county service region may be required.

Education

Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, social work, medicine, registered nurse, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, physician assistant, gerontology, special education, educational psychology, early childhood education, early childhood intervention, or another Human Services discipline that meets QMHP requirements.

Experience

Preferred: Six (6) months of full-time direct care experience working in a mental healthcare setting.
Six (6) months of direct care experience in mental health screening and assessment.
Experience conducting mental health screening and assessments with both adult and child/adolescent populations is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

Required: Valid Texas driver's license.

Special Requirements/Comments

Required: Must be physically able to complete Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression (SAMA), CPR, First Aid, and Defensive Driving training modules. Must maintain a driving record insurable by Burke's insurance administrator.

Physical Requirements

Required: Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively; lift up to 50 pounds; stand and walk for extended periods; operate a vehicle; and perform tasks requiring hand and finger dexterity.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday; generally 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Occasional after-hours work may be required to meet job responsibilities.

Salary

$42,120 - $43,555 annually
