Part - Time Habilitation Specialist

Location: Burke Industries - Lufkin, TX

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 29 hours per week
Compensation: $12.00-$12.50 per hour (based on experience)

Position Overview

Burke is seeking a reliable and motivated Part-Time Habilitation Specialist to support the daily operations of the Day Services program at Burke Industries. This role is responsible for implementing habilitation training, maintaining documentation, supporting consumer skill development, and ensuring a safe and productive environment for staff and consumers.

The Habilitation Specialist works under the direct supervision of the Burke Industries Director and plays a key role in promoting consumer independence, safety, and engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day habilitation and group training services

  • Implement and maintain daily group and individual training schedules

  • Complete daily documentation and weekly progress notes

  • Assist consumers with contracts and assigned tasks

  • Support client and employee welfare and safety

  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements and customer satisfaction standards

  • Manage inventory and assist with vehicle and equipment upkeep

  • Maintain a safe, organized work environment

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

Education

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience

  • Preferred: One (1) year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities

Licenses & Certifications

  • Required: Valid Texas driver's license

Special Requirements

  • Ability to complete SAMA, CPR, First Aid, Defensive Driving, and IDD training

  • Driving record must be insurable under Burke's insurance administrator

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to see, hear, speak, walk, and lift up to 75 lbs.

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods, climb stairs, bend, kneel, and drive

  • Hand and finger dexterity for documentation and daily tasks
