Position Overview

Burke is seeking a Part-Time Residential Assistant (RA) to provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential group home setting. Residential Assistants help promote independence, safety, and quality of life by supporting daily living activities, implementing active treatment plans, and maintaining a safe, welcoming, and home-like environment.

This role involves hands-on care, collaboration with program staff, and consistent documentation to support person-centered services and compliance with Life Safety and Health standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and assist residents with day-to-day living activities

  • Provide and support active treatment training as scheduled

  • Promote a safe, clean, and supportive group home environment

  • Work collaboratively with other professionals and program staff

  • Ensure compliance with Life Safety and Health standards

  • Complete daily documentation, including active treatment data, activity notes, medication inventory records, and progress reports

  • Complete additional documentation as required

Qualifications

Education
Required: High school diploma or GED

Experience
Preferred: Six (6) months of experience working in a direct care role

Licenses & Additional Requirements

Valid Texas driver's license with an insurable driving record
Ability to complete all required training (SAMA, CPR/First Aid, Defensive & Van Driving, and employee training modules)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to walk and drive a vehicle

  • Hand and finger dexterity for routine tasks
