Location: Lufkin, TX

Schedule: Split Shift

  • Two (2) days per week: 2:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.

  • Three (3) days per week: 10:30 p.m. - 8:30 a.m.

Compensation: $30,850 annually

Position Overview

Burke is seeking a Residential Assistant (RA) to provide direct care and daily support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in a residential group home setting. Residential Assistants play a vital role in promoting independence, safety, and quality of life by supporting daily living activities, implementing active treatment plans, and fostering a safe, respectful, and home-like environment.

This position involves hands-on support, collaboration with program staff, and consistent documentation to ensure residents receive high-quality, person-centered care in compliance with Life Safety and Health standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and supervision for residents during daily living activities

  • Assist with and implement active treatment programs as scheduled

  • Support the Day Programmer in providing structured activities and treatment

  • Promote a safe, clean, and supportive group home environment

  • Ensure compliance with Life Safety and Health standards

  • Complete daily documentation, including activity notes, medication inventory records, and progress reports

  • Complete additional documentation as required

  • Transport residents as needed

Qualifications

Education

Required: High school diploma or GED

Experience

Preferred: Six (6) months of experience working in a direct care or human services role

Licenses & Additional Requirements

  • Valid Texas driver's license

  • Driving record insurable by Burke's insurance administrator

  • Reliable transportation

  • Ability to complete required employee training, including:

    • Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression (SAMA)

    • CPR and First Aid

    • Defensive Driving

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to see, hear, speak, and communicate effectively

  • Ability to walk, stand, and drive a vehicle

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Hand and finger dexterity for routine tasks
