About the Role

Burke is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Consumer Benefits Consultant to assist individuals in obtaining essential state and federal benefits. This position helps consumers navigate complex benefit programs by processing disability claims, completing public assistance applications, and advocating on their behalf throughout the application and appeals process.

The Consumer Benefits Consultant develops case histories, prepares supporting documentation, represents consumers during Administrative Law Judge hearings, and assists with applications for Medicaid, Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), TANF, SNAP (Food Stamps), Medicare Part D, and other available assistance programs. This position reports to the Administrative Manager and works closely with consumers to ensure they receive the services and benefits for which they qualify.

What You'll Do

  • Process Social Security disability claims for Burke consumers.
  • Develop case histories and supporting documentation for disability claims.
  • Follow up on denied claims and prepare appeals.
  • Represent consumers during Administrative Law Judge hearings.
  • Complete applications for Medicaid, Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), TANF, SNAP (Food Stamps), Medicare Part D, and other available assistance programs.
  • Maintain accurate case documentation and consumer records.
  • Communicate with consumers, government agencies, and community partners throughout the application process.
  • Travel to consumers' homes, when necessary, to complete benefit applications.
  • Meet required deadlines while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of administrative experience.
  • Valid Texas driver's license with a driving record that meets Burke's insurance requirements.
  • Reliable transportation for daily travel and occasional overnight travel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and strong keyboarding skills.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines while managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to complete Satori Alternative to Managing Aggressive Behavior (SAMA), CPR, and First Aid training.

Preferred

  • Two (2) years of experience working in one or more of the following:
    • Behavioral healthcare
    • Social Security Administration
    • Healthcare or medical clinic
    • Community assistance or public benefits programs

Work Schedule

  • Monday - Friday
  • 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Daily travel is required.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Some benefit applications will be completed in consumers' homes.
