About the Role

Burke is seeking a compassionate, flexible, and highly motivated Crisis Mental Health Clinician to join our Youth Crisis Outreach Team (YCOT). This position works closely with YCOT members and clinical teams to provide immediate and intensive crisis response to youth and their families who need urgent care and may be at risk of requiring inpatient treatment.

The Crisis Mental Health Clinician provides screening, assessment, and intensive interventions designed to de-escalate crises, educate and support youth and families, and divert hospitalization whenever clinically appropriate. This position also provides education and outreach to community partners, including law enforcement, schools, psychiatric hospitals, emergency detention departments, and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS).

This position serves Burke's 11-county service region and will be based in either Lufkin or Nacogdoches. Regular travel is required. The position reports to the YCOT Clinical Coordinator and Crisis Services Director.

What You'll Do

• Provide immediate and intensive crisis response to youth and families experiencing urgent behavioral health needs.
• Conduct crisis screenings and assessments to identify needs and determine appropriate interventions.
• Provide intensive interventions designed to de-escalate crises and reduce the need for hospitalization whenever clinically appropriate.
• Provide education and support to youth and their families during crisis situations.
• Collaborate closely with YCOT members and other Burke clinical teams to coordinate services and continuity of care.
• Work closely with DFPS and other community partners to support youth and families.
• Provide education and outreach to community partners, including law enforcement, schools, psychiatric hospitals, and emergency detention departments.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.
• Demonstrate strong time-management, organizational, and independent work skills in a fast-paced crisis environment.
• Travel throughout Burke's 11-county service region to provide crisis services and community outreach.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation, or another Human Services discipline that meets Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) requirements from an accredited college or university.
• Strong clinical documentation, communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to remain flexible and work effectively in crisis situations.
• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Driving record that meets Burke's insurance requirements.
• Dependable transportation for regular travel throughout the service area.
• Ability to successfully complete Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression (SAMA), CPR, First Aid, and Defensive Driving training.

Preferred

• Six (6) months of full-time direct care experience in a behavioral healthcare or mental health setting.
• Familiarity with behavioral health diagnostic criteria.
• Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker (LBSW).

Work Schedule

• Generally, Monday - Friday
• 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
• Flexibility is required based on crisis service needs.
• Weekend rotation is required, generally every seventh weekend, as part of the 40-hour workweek.
• Regular travel throughout Burke's 11-county service region is required.
• Travel reimbursement is provided.
