About the Role
Burke is seeking an organized, customer-focused HR Specialist to join our Human Resources team. This position is primarily responsible for employee benefits, workers' compensation, leave administration, and unemployment claims, while also supporting recruitment, onboarding, payroll, credentialing, HRIS, employee relations, and other HR functions.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and committed to providing excellent service while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.

What You'll Do
- Administer employee benefit programs and assist employees with benefit questions and issues.
- Coordinate workers' compensation claims, including reporting, documentation, monitoring, and follow-up.
- Administer employee leave programs, including FMLA, Long-Term Disability, and Neutral Absence.
- Process unemployment claims and coordinate required documentation.
- Maintain employee licenses and credentials and track required renewals.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, New Employee Orientation, payroll, HRIS, employee relations, and other HR activities.
- Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and support compliance with Burke policies and applicable requirements.

Qualifications

Required

- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication, organization, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple priorities.
- Valid Texas driver's license.

Preferred

- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Accounting, or a related field.
- Five (5) years of relevant experience.
- Experience with employee benefits, workers' compensation, leave administration, unemployment claims, payroll, or related           functions.
- Experience in a nonprofit, healthcare, or community services setting.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday I 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Physical Requirements
Ability to communicate effectively, attend meetings and training, perform routine office duties, prepare reports, and lift or carry files or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
