Registered Nurse - Team Lead

Location: IDD Authority - Lufkin, TX

Compensation: $64,132.64 annually
Work Schedule: Generally Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; some after-hours work and on-call rotation required based on individual and program needs

About the Role

The Registered Nurse serves as the Team Lead RN for IDD Specialized Therapy and is responsible for assessing, implementing, and evaluating healthcare needs for individuals of all ages who receive Burke services. This position also supervises LVN nurses.

The RN is responsible for monitoring, assessing, planning, and implementing treatment to ensure the healthcare needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are met in various residential and community settings.

This position is based in Lufkin and requires travel throughout Burke's 11-county service region. After-hours availability may be required to meet individual and operational needs. Travel reimbursement is provided.

What You'll Do

  • Assess, implement, and evaluate healthcare needs for individuals of all ages receiving Burke services.
  • Supervise IDD nurses (LVNs).
  • Monitor, assess, plan, and implement treatment to meet the healthcare needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Provide nursing services in residential and community settings.
  • Collaborate with medical professionals to coordinate healthcare needs.
  • Provide staff and family training and consultation regarding individual-specific needs.
  • Perform nursing delegation activities.
  • Conduct medication monitoring and reconciliation.
  • Complete comprehensive and focused nursing assessments.
  • Help ensure continuity of care for individuals receiving services.
  • Travel throughout Burke's 11-county service region as required.

What You Need

Required

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Texas license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Valid Texas driver's license.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Driving record that meets Burke's insurance requirements.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated competency in current nursing practices and principles specific to each age group of individuals served.
  • Working knowledge of computers.
  • Ability to successfully complete Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression (SAMA), CPR, First Aid, and Defensive Driving training.
  • Ability to participate in the required on-call rotation and work after hours as needed.

Preferred

  • One (1) year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities in a community setting.

Physical Requirements

This position requires sight, hearing, talking, prolonged standing and/or sitting, walking, bending, kneeling, driving a vehicle, and sufficient hand and finger dexterity to perform job duties. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
