Residential Assistant


Location: Cunningham Group Home - Lufkin, TX
Position Number: P#1016
Compensation: $30,850 annually
Work Schedule: 10:30 p.m. - 8:30 a.m. | 4 days on / 3 days off, rotating weekly

About the Role

The Residential Assistant (RA) provides guidance and care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in a residential setting. This position supports individuals with day-to-day living activities, provides active treatment, and helps maintain a safe, positive, and home-like environment.

The Residential Assistant works with other professionals to support individual needs and assists the Day Programmer in providing active treatment as scheduled. This position is also responsible for maintaining a safe and clean group home environment in accordance with Life Safety and Health standards.

What You'll Do

  • Provide guidance, supervision, and support with day-to-day living activities.
  • Provide active treatment services as scheduled.
  • Assist the Day Programmer with scheduled active treatment.
  • Promote a positive, safe, and home-like environment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards within the group home.
  • Complete daily documentation, including activity notes, medication inventory records, and progress reports.
  • Complete additional documentation as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals supporting individuals in the home.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

What You Need

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Texas driver's license.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Driving record that meets Burke's insurance requirements.
  • Ability to successfully complete Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression (SAMA), CPR, First Aid, and Defensive Driving training.
  • Ability to complete all required employee training.

Preferred

  • Six (6) months of experience working with individuals in a direct care role.

Physical Requirements

This position requires sight, hearing, talking, walking, driving a vehicle, and sufficient hand and finger dexterity to perform job duties. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
