Work Schedule: Generally Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with flexibility required; weekend rotation generally every seventh weekend as part of the 40-hour workweek

About the Role

The Youth Crisis Outreach Team (YCOT) Mental Health Clinician works closely with other YCOT members and clinical teams to provide immediate and intensive response to individuals in crisis and to youth and their families needing urgent care who are at high risk of becoming emergent and potentially needing inpatient care.

The YCOT goal is to provide screening and assessment for youth and their families in need and provide intensive interventions aimed at de-escalating the crisis, providing education, and, whenever possible, diverting hospitalization.

This position also provides education and outreach to community partners, including law enforcement, schools, psychiatric hospitals, emergency detention departments, and DFPS. The Mental Health Clinician reports to the YCOT Clinical Coordinator and Crisis Services Director. This position requires regular travel throughout Burke's 11-county service region and will be housed in Lufkin or Nacogdoches.

What You’ll Do

• Provide immediate and intensive response to individuals experiencing a crisis.
• Provide urgent support to youth and families at risk of requiring emergency or inpatient care.
• Conduct screenings and assessments for youth and their families.
• Provide intensive interventions aimed at crisis de-escalation and hospitalization diversion when possible.
• Provide education and support to youth and their families.
• Work closely with YCOT members and other clinical teams.
• Provide education and outreach to community partners, including law enforcement, schools, psychiatric hospitals, emergency detention departments, and DFPS.
• Complete required documentation accurately and within established timeframes.
• Maintain flexibility, self-discipline, organization, and effective time management.
• Travel throughout Burke's 11-county service region as needed.

What You Need

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Medicine, Nursing, Rehabilitation, Counseling, Sociology, Human Growth and Development, Physician Assistant Studies, Gerontology, Special Education, Educational Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Intervention, or another Human Services discipline that meets QMHP requirements from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Dependable transportation and ability to travel throughout Burke's service region.
• Driving record that meets Burke's insurance requirements.
• Ability to successfully complete Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression (SAMA), CPR, First Aid, and Defensive Driving training.
• Ability to work the required weekend rotation.

Preferred

• Six (6) months of full-time direct care experience working with adults in a behavioral healthcare or mental health setting.
• Familiarity with behavioral health diagnostic criteria.
• Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker (LBSW).

Physical Requirements

This position requires sight, hearing, talking, prolonged standing, walking, driving a vehicle, and sufficient hand and finger dexterity to perform job duties. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
