General Description
The HR Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the Human Resources Department, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of HR services. This position is responsible for a wide range of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, comprehensive payroll processing, compliance with HR and payroll regulations, employee relations, and HRIS data management.
The ideal candidate is proactive, motivated, results-oriented, and people-focused, with a strong understanding of nonprofit principles and workforce dynamics. Success in this role requires exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, a forward-thinking approach to identifying and resolving challenges, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion. The candidate must also be able to work collaboratively in a team setting and consistently meet deadlines.
Education
Required: Graduation from an accredited high school or its equivalent.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, accounting, or a related field.
Experience
Required: Three (3) years of professional experience in Human Resources including recruitment, onboarding, and computerized payroll. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
Preferred: Five (5) years' HR experience in a nonprofit, healthcare, or community services setting. Familiarity with developing and analyzing Excel spreadsheets and generating data reports.
Licenses/Certifications
Required: Valid Texas driver's license.
Physical Requirements
Required: Sight, hearing, speech, lifting up to 25 pounds, walking, prolonged sitting and standing, bending or kneeling, and hand/finger dexterity.
Hours
Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Salary
Negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience.
