Billing Specialist

Compensation: $18.00–$22.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience
About the Role
Burke is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Billing Specialist to join our Business Services team in Diboll, TX. This position plays an important role in supporting the organization's revenue cycle by monitoring billing performance, resolving claim issues, verifying eligibility, and collaborating with staff and insurance payors to improve billing accuracy and reimbursement.
The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and committed to providing excellent customer service while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
What You'll Do
- Monitor billing reports and identify claim discrepancies.
- Research and resolve billing issues to improve claim accuracy and reimbursement.
- Assist with eligibility verification and accounts receivable activities.
- Communicate with staff, patients, and insurance payors to resolve billing concerns.
- Maintain accurate billing records and data in automated accounting systems.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and payer requirements.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Texas driver's license.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, staff, and third-party payors.
Preferred
- Business degree.
- Three (3) years of business or clerical experience, including financial transactions, payment processing, data entry, and record maintenance.
- Experience with medical insurance billing, including Medicare and Medicaid.
- Experience using automated billing software, such as ClaimMD.
- Knowledge of accounts receivable, healthcare revenue cycle processes, and billing process improvements.
Work Schedule
- Monday – Friday
- 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Some after-hours work may be required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use a computer and other office equipment throughout the workday.
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to perform accurate data entry and maintain legible documentation.
