Occasional weekends as needed

Compensation:

  • $50,074 annually (working toward licensure)

  • $61,285 annually (fully licensed)

Position Overview

Burke is seeking a Crisis Therapist to provide direct rehabilitative and therapeutic services to adults at the Mental Health Emergency Center (MHEC). This role is part of a multidisciplinary treatment team supporting crisis services that operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Crisis Therapist conducts assessments, provides individual and group therapy, develops treatment plans, and ensures clients receive active treatment aligned with their recovery goals. This position requires strong clinical judgment, effective documentation skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced crisis environment under the direction of the Clinical Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group therapy and rehabilitative services to adults in crisis

  • Conduct mental health and admission assessments

  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans

  • Ensure clients receive active treatment consistent with treatment plans

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders making referrals to the program

  • Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team

  • Provide clinical direction and recovery-focused guidance to paraprofessional staff as assigned

  • Complete accurate, timely documentation in accordance with Burke and Medicaid standards

  • Support program operations through flexibility, self-discipline, and effective time management

Qualifications

Education
Required: Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Counseling from an accredited college or university

Experience
Required: One (1) year of full-time direct care experience working with adults with mental illness
Preferred: Experience providing mental health crisis or emergency services in an inpatient or residential setting

Licenses & Additional Requirements

  • LPC-Associate, LMFT-Associate, or LMSW actively working toward clinical licensure in Texas

    • Candidates awaiting licensure application due to supervision requirements will be considered

  • Valid Texas driver's license with an insurable driving record

  • Preferred: LPC, LMFT, or LCSW licensure in the State of Texas

  • Ability to complete required training, including SAMA, CPR, and First Aid

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Prolonged standing and walking

  • Ability to drive a vehicle

  • Hand and finger dexterity for documentation and routine tasks
